Abu (May)

Name: Nasir
Born: 1966 (Ipoh, Perak, Malaysia)

Profile: He is the lead guitarist and co-founder of the Heavy Rock band called "May". He is also a session musician and composer. He is also the nephew of the legendary late M. Shariff.

History: He was raised in a musical background where his uncles and cousins played guitar which influenced him to play the instrument, and took classical music at Yamaha Music school in Ipoh - taught by legendary music guru Thomas Hank.

He started to play guitar seriously in 1983, and played with various other bands such as "Exit". In 1986, he and drummer Man formed "May" where their always play gigs in a local club named Tiiwangsa and always did an opening act for the Metal Glam band "JSY", in the same year "May" entered a local "Battle of the Bands" type contest called 'Juara Rock' - which their won in first place.

In 1987, "May" released their debut album "Dilema" which hit the charts with their signature songs "Sketsa sebuah Cinta" and "Cintamu Mekar di Hati" in their second album "Hakikat".

Currently, Abu is busy with "May" and as a secessionist for other bands and artists.
